Hope Street Youth Development, Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity (SLB) and Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) are hosting ¡Si Se Puede!, a Muti-Cultural celebration honoring Cesar Chavez. The event will be held at Wichita State University on March 31st, 2009.
Cesar Chaves was a Hispanic Community Organizer who was responsible for the United Farm Workers of America. His efforts for social justice and social change have been recognized by millions. He inspired many of the civil rights leaders including Rudy “Corky” Gonzalez, Reyes Tijerina, and the living legend Dolores Huerta.
The guest speaker for the event is Leo Prieto. Mr. Prieto emigrated from Chihuahua, Mexico with his parents to Garden City, KS. v Throughout high school he excelled scholastically and athletically. Upon graduation he chose to attend Kansas State University followed by University of Kansas School of Law. Leo has worked in Law, Politics, the non-profit world, along with Sports & Entertainment.
