Who we are: Hope Street Youth Development
Hope Street Youth Development (HSYD) is a leadership development program for middle and high school youth in Wichita, KS. The program is designed to provide opportunities for young people to empower themselves through leadership skills that will shape their educational, career and life choices. With these skills in place they will be better able to contribute to their neighborhood, the city they live in, and the country now and in the future. Our goal is to teach young people how to think, not what to think. HSYD believes that through academic study, service learning, and leadership development we can make a difference with the young people here in Wichita.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO:
If we
are going to turn around the vicious cycle of poverty and oppression in our country and more importantly in our own city we must begin to offer young people the skills and resources necessary to make a difference. Youth have the resources and desire to speak for themselves. We must let them be at the table when decisions are being made that affect them.
Hope Street has a staff of 4 full time employees and several part time tutors that serve during the school year. HSYD is recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
